First Lieutenant to score in Hennessy?

30 Nov 2012
Mouse Morris has tried to win the Hennessy Gold cup many times and will try again tomorrow with First Lieutenant, one of three Irish runners who will attempt to close the 32 year gap since the last winner from home.
Davy Russell has decided to ride at Fairyhouse instead of renewing his association with First Lieutenant. Bryan Cooper rode the seven-year-old to finish second to Kauto Stone in the JNWine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal early this month and rides tomorrow.
First Lieutenant’s novice campaign didn’t yield as much as might have been expected but he ran some good races, most notably when he was second to Bobs Worth, a rival again tomorrow, in the RSA Chase. Unless conditions are very testing, expect a big race from him.
