Tammys Hill set for Boxing Day at Down Royal

11 Dec 2012
The Liam Lennon trained Tammys Hill overturned last season's champion hunter chaser Salsify in the Rosslare Hunters Chase at Wexford on Wednesday to take the honours for his Banbridge owner/breeder Patrick Smyth whose son James rode the 7/2 winner.

Market leaser Salsify threw down his challenge before the last but he was soon ridden and could make no impression, who went to score by three and a half lengths.

Lennon was absent but the successful rider said: "We came here for the better ground (officially soft to heavy, heavy in places) because he got beaten last time on heavy ground at Loughanmore. Better ground makes all the difference to him."

Tammys Hill has the Cheltenham Foxhunters as his main target but this five-time winner between the flags will take in a hunters chase at Down Royal at Christmas en route, followed by the Raymond Smith Memorial Hunters Chase at Leopardstown on Hennessy Day.
